From the Head Teacher, Mrs Melanie Vine

For many months I had been looking forward to joining Earls Colne Primary School & Nursery. So, when September 3^rd finally arrived there was no doubt that the new Headteacher was as excited as the children!

As with any new job there are of course many things to do and prioritising can be quite challenging. A solution to this problem was to ask the children what they thought I should do. Their responses were very astute and included the following:

• Move into your office
• Say hello to everyone
• Learn all our names
• Do the paperwork
• Pay the bills
• Walk around the school and find out what everyone is doing

Most of the items on the list have been completed, although learning all of the children’s names will take a little longer.

Evaluating teaching and learning is of course a priority. The self evaluation process is a vital part of the school development process and your views are an integral part of this. Therefore we would very much appreciate it if you are able to complete the questionnaire that has recently been sent to you.

It is clearly evident after only a short time that the children at Earls Colne Primary School & Nursery are delightful. I look forward to working with the staff, governors and parents in providing the very best education for all of them.
